I've been using these for a month or so and am very happy with them. Changing weights is fast and buttery smooth. They are exceptionally solid feeling, well-balanced, and I prefer the lighter knurling than you would find on some competing products, like the REP adjustables. They look great, feel really great in the hand, and have an overall sense of quality design and craftsmanship.
I did have a quality issue - one dumbbell adjustment began to fail after about a week of use, but Nuobell service is excellent, responded very quickly, and replaced the impacted components with minimal fuss.
I have some nitpicks:
The inner surface of the weight stack (ie, what your hand would touch on either side if you're gripping the handle) is both plastic and irregularly shaped. This doesn't impact traditional function in any way, but if you wanted to hang these from a chain for weighted dips/pullups, I think they'd be damaged. It also impacts movements where you would grip the dumbbell by the inner surface - such as dumbbell pullovers, two-handed tricep extension, etc. You can do it, but the fact that it isn't a flat surface can make it uncomfortable and makes me worry about dropping one. By contrast to REP, these do not have the extra support bars as part of the handle, which I much prefer. But those support bars can be used to hold onto for pullovers and extensions - with these, I feel like you're left kind of without good options.
I don't drop these and can't imagine why I would. Even with fixed dumbbells, I've never found the need to throw them to the floor after a lift. Maybe that's because my home gym floors are uncovered and I'd wreck the floor as much as the dumbbell. But the innermost weight plate is really thin and potentially fragile. If you're doing lateral raises, for example, you must ensure you don't clang them together at the bottom of the eccentric, as it does seem like it would be easily possible to bend the inner weight plate, which would mean the heavier plates won't align correctly. All of the weight plates other than the inner one are very robust and well-designed. I do wish Nuobell could come up with a way to make the inner ones stronger as well as make the inside surface of the handle non plastic.
